UTC Cup 2013, Kiev, Ukraine07/11/13

Ukrainian Touring Car Cup was traditionally held on October 26-27, on the Motorist Day at the Chaika autodrome, having closed, therefore, 2013 circuit season. Race which lasts 40 minutes and has 1-minute pit stop format, which enables two drivers to start in the same team, and, moreover, teaming-up of two classes – Lada 1500 and Lada 1600 –  resulted in the tight peloton of 17 cars and gave the audience spectacular performance.

Fog, which covered Chaika autodrome in the morning, delayed the race for 2 hours. Having started the 5th, Vladimir Marchenko successfully entered the first left curve and approached to the top-four drivers.

However, a slight kiss-the-wall with the fender on this curve caused the damage of the back right shock absorber. Nevertheless, Vladimir kept on fighting, although suspension’s work was going down.

Anyway, it was only the beginning of the worse. After the  pit stop electrical equipment suddenly began to glitch and the car stopped.

Ruslan Serov has won the Saturday race.

During one night experienced mechanics from the Marchenko’s team fixed the problems with the electrical equipment and repaired the back shock absorber.

The Sunday race began in the reverse order. Vladimir Marchenko started the last in his class. But this fact did not discourage him and Vladimir began to approach to the peloton’s leader Ruslan Serov. 

Unfortunately, some technical problems did not let Serov finish and Vladimir Marchenko bet all his rivals up, finished the 1stand impressed the audience a lot.

As the result, the overall winner of the Ukrainian Cup is S. Skok, the silver medalists are M. Cherednichenko and Y. Driftovskiy. One point determined the holder of the bronze medal, which was given to Ruslan Serov who scored this winning point through his best lap showed shortly before his withdrawal.
