Here is Odessa!
On August 11-12 in this summer Ukraine’s resort, the meeting of forces of drift from all Eastern Europe took place! Association of Drifting of Ukraine with the East European Drift Club had assembled the strongest pilots of Russia, Belarus, the countries of Baltic l and, certainly, Ukraine on the Third round of the Ukrainian Drifting Championship (UDC) and the Fifth stage of the Eastern Europe Drifting Championship (EEDC), in which the Marchenko Racing team… It will participate! Yes!
By forces of the mechanics team of ARD, led by Andrey Govorov, our Nissan car returned in a race! Despite the short terms, Andrey Govorov managed to find a new engine, to establish it on the car, to adjust and deliver to Odessa for continuation of struggle of Vladimir Marchenko in the Ukrainian Drifting Championship and participation in EEDC. All team members command and Vladimir Marchenko himself express the big gratitude and respect to Andrey Govorov and Alternative Racing Development! Thanks!
Well, and now let’s go racing!
Races of two Championships were accepted by known to everybody and already associating with a drifting sport parking of Trading Center Riviera. Event has been divided into two days: Saturday – training and qualification, Sunday – tandem of UDC and EEDC.
Weather was, unlikely to that typical of Odessa, cold, and weather forecasters made prophecy of coming rains and thunder-storms. But, as well as on previous rounds of UDC, forecasts remained only forecasts, still in the evenings it was really a bit cold…
Due to the fact, that Vladimir Marchenko arrived to Odessa still on Wednesday, and the car was prepared and adjusted only on Thursday, he needed to adapt quickly for a new engine in order to drive on track correctly. That took a certain part of training.
The beginning of trainings was a bit delayed because of foreign pilots asks organizers to widen a track in the first turn and push the concrete a bit further. The Ukrainian pilots were not confused by anything!
After training, exactly on timing, qualifications have started! Beginners of the Championship had to leave the cars in concrete. As a result, 28 of 32 pilots passed qualification. Vladimir Marchenko took 8th place in qualification and gained the first points in this round. In addition, the 10th place in qualification of the EEDC.
On the termination of qualification, pilots were invited to pass on streets of Odessa and to hang out on the Place of April 10th but as day was already intense—not all of them agreed to take part in it. However, that does not concern the Marchenko Racing team! Let us go on a parade!
After a parade – everybody should have a rest!
This is the day of long-awaited race of two Championships!
All on the program and in an accurate timing – a briefing, trainings, parade of participants, the autograph session, a briefing, a top series of UDC…
In a top-32 we met with Marat Murchin (Odessa). Marat’s level had considerably grew up, but in this round a victory is behind of Vladimir Marchenko!
Top-16! Here is Sergey Gubanov (Odessa)! In both races, Sergey adjusted an excessive corner of drift, therefore, he was either stopping, or aligning. Vladimir Marchenko passed all track without special errors and passed in Top-8, where the triple Champion of Ukraine Aleksandr Grinchuk (Odessa) already awaited him.
Vladimir missed just a bit of luck to pass further! Experience and professionalism of Alexander interrupted struggle of Vladimir for a podium on a third Round of the Ukrainian Drifting Championship.
To your attention is a grid of arrivals of top series of UDC.
Nevertheless, race did not end! Ahead are tandems of EEDC!
In a top-32 Vladimir met the person who recovered Marchenko Racing teams Nissan S14,5 LS3, Andrej Govorov (Kiev). Unfortunately, Andrej did not have enough of power in his Hachiroku and Vladimir passed in a top-16. Once again, words of gratitude to Andrej Govorov for a technical condition of our car!
Top-16! The pilot from Bielorus, Sergey Sak (Minsk), who already earned today the 4th place in UDC, is nexxt. However, here Vladimir Marchenko appeared stronger and passed in Top-8.
And in a top-8 Aleksey Golovnya (Kiev), who already took today a second place in offset of UDC and demonstrated a really close drift, was competing against us! Vladimir Marchenko has nothing more, but to drive maximally close to competitor, what he had achieved quite good enough, but Alexey, with all his aggression passed a little bit more close on distance and didn’t passed Marchenko Racing further.
As a result, Aleksey Golovnya occupied the first place in offset of EEDC.
The Marchenko Racing team sincerely congratulates Aleksandra Grinchuk with a third place in both offsets, UDC and EEDC! Alexander proved that he is worthy the rank of the Triple Champion, demonstrated a non-habitual drifting for him! It was both a corner and aggression and distance “at a door”… “Grinya – the punk!”
Also, we are glad for a “Goluboi Ogonyok”(“Blue Spark”) team of Aleksey Golovnya and Dmitry of Illyuk, who have exchanged the places on a podium: 2nd and 1st in UDC, 1st and 2nd in EEDC accordingly!
The whole event had passed at the highest level, for what a huge thanks to the Ukrainian Drift Association team!
