Here is this long-awaited and crucial weekend!
Fight for the Title of the Champion of Ukraine on Drifting!
Before a final round of the Championship Vladimir of Marchenko occupied a third step in personal offset. That means that struggle will be not easy!
The situation in tournament table is very intense, a difference in points between pilots is not much big, and it means that each point in qualification and twin races plays an important role!
Now we will return to event! Chaika! An errors-unforgiving track! A courage-training track!
A track serving as the excellent catalyst for drifters!
Complexity of this track lies in need to put the car, on a speed of about 140-170 km/hours, in a drift in the closed turning, as a matter of fact— in a chipper! Thus, if the car will align, it will fly at once to a concrete obstacle in opposite side. The first arch follows the first drift start-up, on which it is necessary to execute a rerun practically under the chipper and to dump speed for continuation of movement, differently there is a possibility to stop already in the following chipper, or to fly directly to the closed park. Then it is necessary to reach a second arch, scraping the concrete chipper by a rear bumper.
Some pilots took the decision not to go and keep the cars safe. Other ones, who understand, that races on Chaika track can bring up the driving proficiency level, found for themselves spare cars especially for this race.
The event itself took three days this time.
The first day, Friday, was for registration and trainings for interested persons.
The Marchenko Racing team arrived to the closed park one of the first. After passage of qualification, let us go to trainings! On trainings all is as usual, pilots are adapting to a track, trying to “feel” it, and tuning options. Vladimir Marchenko has a certain experience on this track so trainings passed smoothly. For the first day, 12 pilots applied.
Second day, Saturday, was for registration, trainings, qualification.
The list of pilots replenished again with 9 interested persons to fight for the Title of The Champion of Ukraine.
During trainings on the Marcheko Racing car happened some problems in the braking system. However, they managed to eliminate them quickly prior to the beginning of qualification. Nissan 200SX S14 Zenki, the spare car of Vladimir Marchenko, helped to resolve the situation by serving as the donor in that moment.
The qualification. All three races Vladimir passed purely, licking concrete on start of drift by a rear bumper in his peculiar style, taking the sixth position in qualification.
Not hitting in Top-16 of the triple Champion of Ukraine Aleksandr Grinchuk was the main unexpectedness of that day. During qualifying races, the third gear broke down on his car. The configuration of transmission of the car of Alexander did not allowed to pass a track completely on fourth and, especially, on second gear drive. Nevertheless, the drift start-up of the car in all three races of qualification was very strong! Perhaps it was the best one of all Saturday racing day. As a result – 17th place on qualification.
Third day, Sunday, is the Fight for the Title!
Prior to the beginning of the Top races, organizers gave to pilots three hours of trainings. Then was a parade of participants on which Vladimir Marchenko pleased everybody with a dark blue smoke from under the wheels of his car.
Also there was the fan session on which spectators received an opportunity to communicate with pilots and to sign souvenirs.
After dialogue with fans – let’s go in fight!
Series of Top-16. The contender of Vladimir Marchenko – is Sergey Dyshkant (Kiev), the person who does powerful contributions to development of a drifting in our country, helping pilots, sharing councils and personal experience, and to a drifting as a whole, promoting it on a TV.
In race, in a role of a conducted, Vladimir Marchenko tried to repeat a trajectory of Sergey who went on more internal trajectory and then aligned that entailed alignment of Vladimir, and after a rerun Sergey stopped. Vladimir Marchenko passed in Top-8.
Top-8. Vladimir Palariyev (Odessa), racing in Denis Lisichenko’s car as his own fighting vehicle failed, and Denis, in view of his absence on event, kindly gave the car for participation. It is necessary to notice that Vladimir Palariyev is one-step above Vladimir Marchenko in personal ranking offset of the Championship.
In the first race, both the pilots had a sharp turn. In second race, pilots made identical quantity of errors. Judges declared restart of their race.
As a result of restart of final race, after long meetings and revisions of repetition, the judges had made the decision. Vladimir Palariyev is in the Top-4.
It meant that the Marchenko Racing team stopped the struggle for a podium place. But there are more to come! After all, a distribution of places in the Championship by results of four rounds is just ahead! And the intrigue did not left pilots and fans up to the most final race!
So, results of the Final round of the Championship of Ukraine on Drifting:
1 place – Dmitry Illyuk
2 place – Aleksey Golovnya
3 place – Vladimir Palariyev
4 place – Vyacheslav Borovitsky
After having thoroughly counted all the points, it became clear, that just 7 points were between Vladimir Marchenko and a third step in a personal offset of the Championship of Ukraine on Drifting 2012. And it gives more stimulus! It means that in a season of 2013’ there will be more smoke, the corner will be more accurate and distance will be lesser!
