On June 3 the command of Marchenko Racing visited Minsk city in order to drive in the the Eastern Europe Drifting Championship (EEDC). Weather in Republic of Belarus was merciless to all! Two days were filling us up with raining, then by hailstones, then drying by the sun and all of this accompanied by a strong wind! It would be desirable to tell that the location, namely the International airport Minsk-1, is improbable! A high-speed track, strong opponents, crowds of fans – drift in Belarus!
The 4 pilots gone to represent Ukraine on this event! They are Vladimir Marchenko (Kiev), the Goluboi Ogonyok (Blue Spark) full team (Aleksey Golovnya and Dmitry Illyuk) and Yury Driftovsky, who passed 16 years in this city, but for the moment live in Kiev and were registered from Ukraine!
When we arrived on trainings, our pilot felt small complexities in driving! On arrival to the closed park it revealed the laths biting. As the problem was impossible to eliminate, he continued trainings!
Next day, weather was not improved! There was even such a moment when all pilots were removed from the track to wait for the end of a rain! A track was drying, and then was again poured by rainwater! Thus, the pilots were in very cruel conditions!
We continued race with without elimination of a problem with a lath and arrived on 14th place by results of qualification! As race were conducted on the scheme of Top-32 – we continued race!
In a series of Top-32 our pilot met the pilot from the city of St.-Petersburg, Timur Tlekhuray! After the first pair races, judges appointed re-race as pilots made approximately identical quantity of errors! In the first race, Vladimir Marchenko managed to overcome the opponent quite far, that was giving not bad chances of pass in Top-16, but the sharp turn in the first arch of second race killed every chance! Thus, a result – Top-32 and 21th place, follows the results of race, despite problems with the car!
Yury Driftovsky reached a series of Top-16 where met Dmitriy Illyuko, who passed further, in a series of Top-8.
Alexey Golovnya passed such pilots as Evgeny Satyukov and Guido Elkins, and reached the final, where conceded in equal fight to the team-mate Dmitry Illyuk.
Well, finally, Dmitry Illyuk, having passed not an easy way from a qualification to a final, arrived on the first place at the first stage of EEDC 2012!
