On June 23-24 on the Kiev autodrome “Chaika” had passed the Cup of OSOU on ring races. These competitions carried the national status and passed in new format to ring races of Ukraine.
For the first time in history of the Ukrainian ring, the temporary handicaps, which leaders should win back already in race, were applied. The winner of qualification was receiving the 15-second, second pilot – 10-second, and third – a 5-second handicap. Accordingly, before start of second race, handicaps were applied to a top three of the first race. These seconds were added up to the time of obligatory 60-second pit-stop during which it was possible to replace the pilot if the team declared two racers on the one car in this race.
Races of the Cup of OSOU pass on a small ring of the autodrome “Chaika” of 3 kilometers’ length. Most of the crews been declared in the most democratic class of “Lada-1500” – 11 cars came on start. Four pilots from this list during the obligatory pit stop conceded the place to the workmate, having used the new possibilities of regulations.
The pilot of the Marchenko Racing team took part in competitions as a part of one of teams in a class of “Lada-1500”. In the first day of competitions, in the race, Vladimir demonstrated the 4th result, but after change of the pilot, his workmate didn’t managed to cope with steering on a 4th circle and met with a concrete chipper. In a night, mechanics of the team repaired the car and Vladimir Marchenko came on qualification of second day. But he was forced to leave race due to refusal of braking system.

Also during racing weekend on “Chaika” a third stage of Russian racing on Cup of LADA “Granta” had passed. The Ukrainian crew of skilled Leonid Protasov and 16-year-old Mark Kramarenko, who was only driving in go-cart racing in the past year, also was in this offset. In the first race, our pilots demonstrated the fifth result, but, unfortunately, because of technical failure, could not finish in the second race.
